Poetry

Poetry is dear. You need time to read it.

The  speed of light is nothing
to the speed of time.
People, places, events
careen out of blackness
    and back in again.

  • TRANSFORMATION

                             for M.P.

She writes to fill the air with poems,

doesn't slow her pen when words

jump off the page or verses shake.

    Her syncopated shake

flings commas, adverbs from her poems.

Nouns tap, verbs hum. Shaker-like words

endure. We feel the chorus of words

surround us with a transforming shake,

changing us and all our poems.

When words shake into poems we begin again.
